Our Lab Guys

Ed Byrne is our prosthetic lab specialist. He’s a master at partial and full dentures, TMJ occlusal guards, flippers, sports and snore guards, bleach trays, flouride trays, plaster models, and articulator mounting to just name a few. In fact, he’s skilled at making just about any mouth device that you can take in and out of your mouth.

"Uncle Ed" as we sometimes call him, was born in Sacramento, California and raised in the Humbolt county area. In 1971, he attended the College of Dental Technology in Los Angeles after which he began working as a dental technician in the Wilshire area. I recall him relating stories of making prosthetics for famous people, most notably Cher and others. In 1975, Ed started his own lab in La Puente making dentures and such for John Thompson and many other dentists in the community.

On a personal note, Ed is married to Chris the sister of our other lab technician. They have three children and two grandchildren - Jay and Mike. Ed and Chris lived in West Covina for many years, but now reside in Chino Hills.Ed is a very knowledgeable and experienced lab technician, but his specialties are most notably in the making of dentures and now, the new metal-free invisible clasp, flexible, nylon partial dentures. Rudy Herman is our crown and bridge lab specialist. Born in Oahu, Hawaii, Rudy and his family came to West Covina while he was in his early teens. Rudy met his wife Christine here (people know her as Kricket) and they were married in 1981. They have two lovely daughters Katie and Casey who keep Rudy busy as a chauffeur to and from ballet lessons and soccer practices and tournaments.

Rudy began as an apprentice in crown and bridge dental prosthetics in 1974 and eventually purchased the lab he was working at in 1982. Rudy has an exceptional eye for color matching. In addition, his ability in shaping and characterizing teeth make his tooth creations very realistic and lifelike.

Our lab technicians are a considerable asset to our office and a wonderful value to you as a dental patient. By having on-site technicians at our disposal, we are able to have "at-appointment" custom shade selection for your teeth, instant technical consultation, and quicker turn-around times for you dental work.
